Spring is Near & Dry Eyes and Allergies are Around the Corner

Despite the irregularly cold start to Spring, allergies are coming — and hopefully so are warmer temperatures. Many people have seasonal allergies. Dry eyes syndrome (DES) can be triggered in a number of ways:

  • Dust
  • Insufficient blinking
  • Home or office heating or air conditioning system
  • Smoking can increase the risk of dry eye syndrome
  • Long term contact lens wear

Unfortunately, dry eyes may not be easy to avoid; aging plays a role and can cause DES. According to Gretchyn Bailey and All About Vision, women are more susceptible to dry eyes, but men too, are more likely to experience dry eyes  as they age.
